Swarms of US Navy robots will be tested in the field

2016 will mark a significant moment in the future of air warfare. Swarms of US Navy robots will leave the laboratory and be tested in the field. The US Navy's Low-Cost UAV Swarming Technology programme is fusing unmanned aircraft into a swarm, and will demonstrate 30 drones flying together somewhere over the ocean.

Drone registration to start in the US on Dec 21

Drone registration to start in the US on Dec 21. An FAA press release today details that the FAA sees drone operators, including hobbyists, as aviators. The agency requires all drone aviators operating drones over 0.55 pounds in weight to register with the FAA. Registration will start on December 21 and will be free for the first 30 days. Afterwards they will charge USD 5. The same registration applies to all drones that one operator flies.
